FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

The Annual Pharmacology Conference, 2017

The Faculty of health sciences, University of the Free State, Bloemfontein

2nd – 4th October 2017 (tentative)

Theme: ‘Advances in Pharmacological Sciences’

The 2017-annual conference of the South African Society for Basic and Clinical pharmacology (SASBCP) will be held on 2-4th October 2017 at the Faculty of health sciences, University of the Free State, Bloemfontein. The conference will cover a wide range of topical issues, thereby exposing participants to the latest developments in pharmacology and related fields, hence the theme ‘Advances in pharmacological sciences’. The topics include herbal or traditional medicine, drug metabolism and Transport, Drug regulation, pharmacovigilance, pharmaco-epidemiology, pharmaco-economics, pharmacology education, tropical medicine, non-communicable disease/disorders, infectious disease, bioinformatics, pharmacogenetics, toxicology, neuropsychopharmacology, general basic and clinical pharmacology, analytical pharmacology, and special topics in pharmacy and pharmaceutics.

The conference opens on the evening of 01st October 2017 with inaugural lecture. It will be preceded by two workshops on the same day; one on “LCMS method-optimization and analysis of therapeutic proteins (biological medicines)”, and another on “WHO/TDR Quality Practices in Biomedical Research”. We encourage young scientists to attend these learning activities. There will also be the young competition award and others that will be announced later.

Lastly, we delighted to welcome you to Bloemfontein, the city of Roses, and hope that you and your family can enjoy the many tourist attractions at arm’s length from the venue.
