SASBCP management - how it works

According to the Society Constitution, the Board of Directors (at least 7) are elected at an Annual General Meeting (AGM) every three years.  The Board then appoints from amongst itself the Officer Bearers (i.e. President, Vice-President, Secretary-General & Treasurer), who are assisted by an Office Assistant. In addition, the Board may co-opt additional members to the Executive Committee (EXCO), to assist with specific tasks.

The current Board of Directors was elected at the latest Annual General Meeting (AGM 2010) for a term of three (3) years (2010-2013). Due to his health status, the former President, Prof Wim du Plooy, resigned on 24 March 2011.  Consequently the vacant positions have been re-elected and re-shuffled during a special meeting of the Board (03 May 2011), with new positions 2011-2013 as reflected in the tables above.  The appointment of Prof Andrew Walubo as director is interim and subject to elections of this position at the AGM 2011. The latter changes in managment still fall under the 3 year term 2010-2013 and the next election of the Board is scheduled for the AGM 2013.
