Dear International and National Congress Delegates,

Dear International and National Congress Delegates

On behalf of the organising committee, it is our pleasure to invite you to participate in the 6th International Conference on Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences (ICPPS 2011) to be held in Durban, South Africa from 25th - 27th September 2011 under the theme: "Mind the Gap".

We are pleased to host this conference and would hope that it will be beneficial in terms of sharing new ideas and experiences between members and lead to more practical communications and collaborations between academics and researchers, and between universities. This conference will showcase plenary and open discussion forums, panel discussions, formal paper presentation sessions, and workshops in many diverse topics. It will be varied, fast moving and thought provoking. The program will be posted shortly.

Contributions in any area of pharmaceutical and pharmacological sciences, from basic research to applied and clinical research are invited for presentation at the conference either as an oral or a poster presentation. We hope that by having the venue in Durban we will attract many of the young researchers and students, not only as an audience but as presenters. We hope to attract contributions from all Universities around the country and will make it as easy as possible for delegates to get to and from the venue.

We look forward to welcoming you to a high quality conference which will provide stimulating participation as well as time to relax and mingle with our colleagues during our evening events in this vibrant setting.

Scope:
The Conference will cover diverse topics relating to medicines, including therapeutic strategies, pre-clinical research, drug design, formulation, regulation, etc.

Dear friends and colleagues,

On behalf of The Academy of Pharma"ceutical Sciences, I would like to invite and welcome you to the 6th ICPPS. This initiative of a combined conference of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences in South Africa was established in 1996 and has become a highly stimulating scientific and social event, organised every 2-3 years by a different University.
The Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences was established in 1979 and caters for the needs of its members involved in any sphere of pharmaceutical education, research and development. The mission of The Academy is to advance pharmaceutical sciences in South Africa, promote research and education, provide expert opinion and recognise excellence by providing a forum for free interchange and dissemination of scientific knowledge and skills by means of meetings, congresses, and publications. This is obtained by encouraging excellence in research and education and active participation in proceedings and activities of the scientific and pharmaceutical communities on national and international levels. Initiation of joint ventures like this ICPPS is an activity deemed expedient to realise these objectives.
This conference is a key event for the pharmaceutical scientist in South Africa and offers an attractive multidisciplinary scope of attendance and presentations. As always, it promises to be an event where scientific and social interactions could lead to lifelong collaboration and friendship. We look forward to your active participation.

South African Society for Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (SASBCP)

Dear colleague

The SASBCP takes great pleasure in welcoming our international guests and members to this 6th ICPPS 2011, a long-standing joint meeting between the PSSA and the SASBCP, and joined by SANS. Prof Suleman and her group at UKZN have indeed put together an excellent programme that brings people together.  We wish to express our sincere gratitude for our sponsors and exhibitors who, by their valuable participation, contribute to capacity building in medicinal sciences in South Africa.

This year the Organisers at UKZN have chosen a multidimensional theme "Mind the Gap", capturing many of the challenges we face in medicinal sciences in South Africa and the African continent as a whole. As a scientific community we are responsible not only to foster the highest standards in science, but also to serve within the context of our local and wider communities.

The SASBCP has become a very dynamic society, actively participating in the leadership of international committees, a 'Pharmacology for Africa' initiative, local capacity building and as an organisation that offers new opportunities to its members for national and international collaboration and networking. We look forward to hosting the 17th World Congress of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (WCP2014) in Cape Town, which will actively promote and build bridges in basic, clinical and translational aspects of the discipline.

As Society we remain committed to serve you as member, also by collaborating with the Organisers of the 6th ICPPS 2011, to create platforms for scientific excellence, networking and memorable experiences.
