Presenter's Information: Awards & Competitions

The South African Society for Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (SASBCP) and the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the PSSA (APSSA) have separate competitions and awards, open to members of the respective societies only.

The Congress Procedure: The  Young Scientist competitions of both the SASBCP and APSSA will be adjudicated in podium presentations as indicated in the programme.

SASBCP Awards

The South African Society for Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (SASBP) holds four competitions during its annual congress meetings to foster and promote research in pharmacology. These include the two Young Scientist Competitions in Basic and in Clinical Pharmacological Sciences, as well as the two Best Publication Competitions in Basic and in Clinical Pharmacological Sciences.  Competitions are open to SASBCP members only and membership fees must be paid-up at the time of submission to participate. Decisions of the Congress Organisers are final.

Important Notes

  • All Competitions are open to paid-up members only.
  • To enrol or the competition for the Young Scientist Awards, indicate your intention to enrol for the SASBCP competition in the tick box on the system when submitting your abstract online. Please note that the system will only allow you to indicate your intention to participate for this competition if your have indicated that you are (1) a student and (2) a member of the Society. You also need to fax your completed and signed Young Scientist Declaration Form to the Society Secretary-General, Prof Vanessa Steenkamp, at +27 12 319 2411 .
  • To enrol for the Best Publications Award, send your manuscript in PDF format via e-mail to Dr Johannes Bodenstein at BodensteinJ@ukzn.ac.za. Then also fax your completed and signed Best Publication Award Declaration Form to the Society Secretary-General, Prof Vanessa Steenkamp, at +27 12 319 2441.
  • The deadline for all submissions is 30 June 2011.
  • Manuscripts with a publication date of the preceding year (i.e. 2010 publication for 2011 award) are eligible for submission.

APSSA Awards

Type. All competitions are open to APSSA members only. Members are invited to submit entries for the following competitions:
